The Maison de Bonneterie, or abbreviated the Bonneterie, is located at the Rokin street 140 – 142, within short walking distance from the Dam square of Amsterdam.

It has the ambiance of a luxurious Parisian store, which combines the long tradition of good service with the most modern selection of products. The traditional interior has been maintained throughout the years. At Maison the Bonneterie you will find men’s and women’s clothing of the highest quality, for both young and old, shoes, household goods and accessories.

Besides this, there are a number of shops within the Maison de Bonneterie, such as Burberry, Hugo Boss, Polo Ralph Lauren, Strenesse, Dolce & Gabanna, Max Mara, Replay, Sergio Rossi, Tommy Hilfiger, Diesel, Armani, Donna Karan, Gant and Nautica concessions on the ground floor.

On the first floor there is a Grand Café and on the second floor a golf shop, a Hair and Beauty Centre and a children’s department can be found as well.

The Bonneterie is easy to reach from Amsterdam’s Central Station by taking the tram lines 4, 9, 16, 24 and 25 to tram stop Munt.

The family business

The Maison de Bonneterie first opened its doors in 1889 and was operated by the couple Joseph Cohen and Rosa Wittgenstein, starting successfully as a shop for hosiery.

In 1913, the present building of the Bonneterie was constructed, designed by the architect A. Jacot, with an interior style like that of Louis XVI, with an imposing staircase and a glass roof. Shortly after, the second Bonneterie shop in The Hague was opened, once more “imitating the palace of Louvre” interior.

When Joseph Cohen died in 1928, the shop was taken over by his nephews Max and Alfred Cohen and even later, already after World War II, by two other families of their relatives, called Herz and Colland.

Until today, the Bonneterie is a family business with a distinct feeling of personal care for the customer, the careful selection of products as well as an eye for style, which can be felt throughout the entire store. It is a multi brand fashion store with an accent on luxury and tradition.
