The first weekend of April is National Museum Weekend in Holland. During this weekend, you can visit over 500 museums free of charge, or with large discounts. Though there are around 500 museums strewn across the country that partake in the event, Amsterdam alone has no less than twenty museums that offer free or heavily discounted entrances (museums like the ever-popular Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank House are also part of the National Museum Weekend..). It’s a great opportunity to sample a piece of the city’s rich cultural heritage and not have to burn holes in your pockets while doing so. Plus, the activities and events performed during the weekend mean you’ll have your entertainment cut out for you.
