In these last few years, the Eastside of Amsterdam has steadily been growing into a real social and cultural haven. With some of Amsterdam’s coolest spots to dine and party (at clubs like Trouw or Canvas), yet another go-to destination has been opened: The “Volkshotel”.

You are probably wondering, what would an Amsterdam resident need a hotel for? Indeed, Volkshotel is a hotel, but it’s not just another average Amsterdam hotel.

The hotel is more of a creative get-together slash working space, all mashed up in one big building you can also sleep in. Besides 172 hotel rooms, the building offers you an open working space, a night lounge and cocktail bar Doka, and smaller cafe for drinks and snacks called Werkplaats.

At Werkplaats (translation: Workspace) all routes meet. The crossroads of artists, entrepreneurs and the business city suits. For a monthly fee you can use co-working spaces and meeting rooms. People can work alone, get inspired by newly met colleagues or consult in one of the four, small meeting rooms. For bigger events, business meetings and putting the world to rights, there are three large conference rooms.

On top of that -literally, on the 8th floor rooftop terrace- there will be a sauna and hot tub available for hotel guests and members of the Werkplaats group.

Also, good old restaurant/club Canvas (right next to the hotel) will be open for some good food and funky parties.

The Volkshotel Amsterdam is located in the East district, only 50 metres from metro station Wibautstraat. The river Amstel is a 2-minute walk from the Volkshotel, while Oosterpark is 850 metres away. A variety of bars and restaurant can also be found there.
